Location
The Visual Narrative Initiative (VNI) shares 9000 square feet of space with the Computer Science Department’s Digital Games Initiative at the Games and Visual Narrative Suite, located in the Venture II building on NCSU’s Centennial Campus.
The Games and Visual Narrative Suite hosts faculty and staff offices, advanced media collaboration spaces, student lab spaces, meeting facilities and a large classroom for VNI courses and seminars.
The Games and Visual Narrative Suite is a short walk from EB II, the home of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering and two blocks from the university’s Hunt Library and the world-class visualization facilities available there.
Parking for visitors to the suite is available in the visitor parking spaces in the adjacent Venture Center Parking Structure. To obtain a visitor parking pass, please contact your host in the GVN suite, who can provide you with a PDF version for you to print and display in your car.
Directions
The Visual Narrative Initiative is located on the NC State University Centennial Campus in the Games and Visual Narrative suite on the 5th floor of Venture II. On-street parking is available along Main Campus Drive after 5:00pm. You can also park in university lots without a permit after 5:00pm, and there are a limited number of visitor spaces in the adjacent Venture parking deck.
Venture II is one of five buildings in the Venture Complex, and three of those buildings (I, II, and III) along Main Campus Drive look more or less identical. Venture II is marked 920 on the main entrance of the building and also on the glass above the entrance doors. Take the elevator to the 5th floor. Turn right when exiting the elevator, and make another right down the hall. Suite 530 will be the first door on your right.
Getting to NC State’s Centennial Campus
From RTP or Raleigh-Durham International Airport
Take I-40 east towards Raleigh. Exit Gorman Street. Turn left at light. Take Gorman Street to Avent Ferry Road. Turn right. Take Avent Ferry Road to Varsity Drive. Turn right. Receive parking pass at information booth just ahead.
Take S. Blount Street to Martin Luther King Blvd. Turn right (going west). Take MLK Blvd. until it turns into Western Blvd. Turn left at light onto Avent Ferry Rd. Turn left at light onto Varsity Drive. Enter Campus. Receive parking pass at information booth just ahead.
From Wilmington, North Carolina
Take I-40 north towards Raleigh. Follow signs for I-40 west at split. Exit right onto Lake Wheeler Drive. Turn left on Centennial Pkwy. Turn left at light onto Avent Ferry Rd. Turn left at light onto Varsity Dr. Enter Campus. Receive parking pass at information booth just ahead.
